crescent house
Ort:vaucluse, australia
Projekt:matthew woodward architecture

built amidst lush coastal gardens, crescent house in vaucluse (not far from sydney) is the dream home of a young family seeking tranquillity, fun, functionality and technology, all with an ocean view. the building's stark white geometry stands out like a sculpture amidst the rich vegetation of the neighbourhood. the interaction of its lines with the context creates a happy connection between maritime atmosphere and built environment. the entire residence conveys a sense of openness thanks to its large glass walls, while the essentiality of the finishes allows the richness of nature and the landscape outside to grace the spaces, often characterised by architectural elements of exposed concrete. the lighting design for crescent house not only reflects the desire to establish a dialogue with the natural light that surrounds the house during the day, but also to enhance the sculptural nature of the building, emphasising its lines, depth and volumes. for this reason, lighting solutions were predominantly selected to integrate perfectly into the architecture, creating striking yet discreet effects. in the large lounge-terrace on the first floor, architecture and furnishings play with the shape of the circle: a c2 anelli is suspended above a round table, which reflects the large circular openings in the ceiling in terms, not only of their profile, but also of the way that natural light passes through them during the day. for the living room, an area dedicated to conviviality, a lamp has been selected which, due to its preciousness and size, becomes the protagonist of the scene: da ma sospensione enriches the environment, at the same time interacting with the decorative and furnishing elements inside and the natural immediately outside, evoking the harmonious interaction desired for the home and its context.
