raku and the tea ceremony
place:faenza, italia
project:claudio piersanti rita rava architetti
lighting project:mario nanni
the exhibition, bringing together 106 pieces spanning over four centuries of life and all fifteen generations of the raku dynasty, shows a wide and historically significant selection of what is considered the epitome of japanese pottery. the exhibition spaces are deliberately left empty and essential, with just a few, carefully-ordered features. discreet, essential lighting, carefully measured, never excessive, almost spiritual, in a sense another creative act joining with that of the raku master, infuses the works with a sense of the contemporary.
