an installation at the centre of an open space: this was the form chosen by the venice biennale to introduce itself and its activities, on the occasion of the 9th exhibition of cultural property and activities 2005. a space designed as a service area for the activities proposed, but also as an opportunity to meet and relax, making use of the 'deer' elements designed by arne quinze for moroso. visitors are confronted by a huge coloured wall, the creation of the architect pina maugeri of the venice biennale special projects office with the collaboration of Viabizzuno and studio camuffo. over 600 'book rests', self-supporting and supporting a lighting system composed of halogen and neon lights, with the intention of communicating the calendar of events for 2006: planned activities are grouped in the 7 sectors which today make up the venice biennale: dance, music, theatre, visual arts, architecture, asac (the contemporary arts archive), and cinema, represented by over 5000 coloured 'books'.
