the mars athletic club sport center is in Istanbul, in the most exclusive area of the bosphorus, in bebek bay. The sports centre is part of the plan for refurbishment and transformation of an old french orphanage. the building hosts: a bar, swimming pool, spa, tennis courts, gyms and restaurants for a total area of 4500 square metres. the large façade of the sports centre is embedded into the ground of the outside garden and fitted with big windows to allow the natural light to flow inside. the furnishings have been created in consideration of the use of recycled materials, since one of the aims of the design is to maintain the high level of energetic efficiency within the centre and have an innovative approach to convey extra prestige to the club. the lighting design focuses on the feeling of wellbeing that light generates: it has been designed within the space to create a positive psychological effect. the entrance is distinguished by the lines of light of the bacchetta magica fittings that convey proportion to the architecture, channelling the gaze deeply, increasing the spatial perspective and giving the setting a graphic light design. in the sports halls the space has been illuminated with dynamic lines of light obtained using c2 built-into the ceiling. in the massage and wellbeing rooms, the light of the spessore light fitting projects out of the vertical and horizontal incisions, creating a golden shimmer capable of conveying a sensation of luxury and wellbeing at the same time.
