the röda sten building was originally a facility that hosted a boiler house used to produce energy for the adjacent industrial area. given the high risk of fire, it was built in a dead area of the göteborg city centre, overlooking the sea and far from any other building. these very special conditions created a unique environment, framed by the älvsborgsbron bridge, giving to this place an industrial noises awesomeness. beyond the water one sees the horizon depicted by the göteborg industrial heritage where new contemporary areas, recently urbanized, are inserted. the sentiero di vals type light fittings fit perfectly in this intriguing, modern architectural mix, with their peculiar silhouette and the unique capacity to create light and shadows without glaring or distract one’s look from the urban scenario. these light fittings are characterized by their gentle presence, almost intangible, which sketches in the air a new element that changes holistically until it modifies its shape. in this place one sees the overlapping of different historical eras and periods, of interaction between urbanization and culture. the set of all these elements lends itself to include people with different inclinations and passions, such as graffiti artists, street artists, young and old couples, basically anyone who is keen to feel the intriguing aura of this area. nowadays röda sten hosts a renowed center for contemporary arts, the whole area (previously considered ‘no man’s land’) represents for göteborg the ideal destination for trips and excursions in the sunny days and full moon nights.
