in october 2013 opened in verona amo opera restaurant, the restaurant of amo, arena museo opera, the museum dedicated to the opera, exposing archive materials, organizing exhibitions and educational courses linked to the artistic program of the lyric festival at the arena and the philharmonic theatre. the amo museum, and the restaurant too, occupies articulate spaces, full of verona history, made of the palazzo forti’s compendium, owned by the fondazione cariverona, already used in the past as modern art gallery. since decades these spaces are representing, both for the town and its visitors, a center of cultural interest which offers many opportunities for knowledge and debate inside the multicolored artistic universe. since when, in 2012, the amo opera museum was set up in the spaces of palazzo forti, opera music and its artistic background contaminate, along with the arena, both the environment made of historical buildings and the city dna. fondazione arena also considered necessary to provide the museum with a restaurant, appropriate to both the architectural context and the visiting audience whose palate is particularly refined, especially in the musical field. the concept was based on the achieving of two main goals: adaptation of the furnishing design to the historical context using a language of mediation that, starting from tradition of the places of the high class catering, could draw compositional and chromatic cues by the contemporaneity. high level environmental comfort performances and operational functionality with a particular attention to the offer of a modern catering, characterized by the presence of a opera museum. in the first case the project, considering the features of the spaces, such as the elevate height of the rooms, and walls and ceilings with very marked historic features, inserted the coatings on the walls both in dark and in lacquered wood, some of them richly molded, that dividing with their proportions those heights, have been used to exhibit picture panelings that represent both set up scenes of arena shows and singers, vocal interpreters of the operas, depicted while to the test of cooking. the same panelings played, interpreting by the use of the carmine red backpainted glass, the modern function of catering, the equipment intended for functions of the bar and gourmet food counter. the allocation of about sixty seats – single or benches – reminds on purpose paris bistrots, without losing the character of the spaces that allow both a strong socializing among visitors and, possibly, a strong confidentiality, thanks to a private room. in the second case the performance level has been assured paying a great attention to the plant design, both as air conditioning and spaces designed for toilets and production of culinary delights. based on these assumptions, the choice of Viabizzuno light fittings allowed to hit both targets of the concept, in particular: harmony with spaces full of historical and architectural cues particular attention to light fittings shapes, able to integrate into the space, but at the same time to become themselves narration and sharing tools. the anselmo parete gives rhythm to the walls adjacent the tables in front of the bistro counter, giving the client the possibility to put the light wherever he/she wants; the royal chandelier, on the contrary, increase the magnificence of the historic halls. the lighting efficiency made of different light sources, both incandescence or led. the composition of the several kinds of equipments and their mixing also allowed a final effect that enhances spaces, furnishings, decorations and above all produces a particularly exciting atmosphere, made of light, half-lights and shadows that involves the guest in a rich and elegantly varied experience; in a nutshell: musical.
