situated in kastelruth historic centre, old village on sciliar plateau in bolzano province, in the heart of dolomites, the new hedquarters of raiffeisen bank harmoniously integrates in the existing context and is characterized by the predominant use of natural materials, such as wood and stone. the spaces lighting has been conceived from an ergonomic point of view, with a high level of individual control on the atmosphere one wants to create with light. the form, the expression, radiation characteristics and design of the lighting system, as a whole, is reduced to three elements: workplace lighting, traffic zones lighting and stairwell lighting. the working atmosphere for employees and clients has been designed with a particular attention. the c208 light fittings are adjusted on a formally self-effacing beam, parallel to the workplace, at a height of approximately 2.10 metres, with an indirect component with fluorescent lamps and direct led inserts (10W, colour rendering higher than 90%, with asymmetric radiation reflector technology). the direct component of light can be adjusted directly by employees, according to individual sensibility or task to perform. in this way, light can generate different intensity levels depending on the work situation on any desk. in the screen area, the light intensity can be adjusted lower than in the table area using conventional or communication equipment – individually and continuously. with this, each user can set his/her own space: more or less indirect light, more or less direct light, more or less light to the right or to the left. the reflectors of the direct components are set in order to prevent the employees not to be directly illuminated: this means more visual comfort without any light intensity and so a relaxing working atmosphere. the traffic zones are equipped with wallwasher lights and recessed fittings with downlight source. for the staircase it has been designed a glass lamp that shows its crystalline structure as a particular feature, so the led light is diffused and reflected in a specific way. in conclusion, thanks to a careful design, light gives personality to each workplace, improving its atmosphere, and at the same time it seems to expand the already-wide spaces, example of modern architecture in a historic context.
