built in 1597, this building is one of the oldest farmhouses of lech, a small village in the austrian alps. originally divided into small rooms, the building has been totally reconstructed on all three floors and transformed into a flowing spatial continuum and rented as a chalet, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, just a stone's throw from the ski slopes.
the architectural elements with their traditional character have been carefully restored and contrasted with the more modern materials and finishes. the combination of essential architecture, characterized by straight lines, and the historic elements creates an effective contrast. the predominant material is wood, large panels of which cover the entire area of the living room, the cinema room and the bedrooms. ceilings, floors and even walls are actually solid, rustic, knotty wood, creating a simple and natural ambience, in which to immerse oneself in nature. the use of light has also played a key role in accentuating the contrasts between materials and forms. the tactile perception of rough old structures, perceptible under a beam of light, coexists with the smooth edges, highlighted by precise, thin beam lighting. the use of wallwasher transforms entire walls into a lighting units. the choice of products such as 'lettera c' for illuminating paintings, p1 as small, elegant spotlight to pick out individual items of furniture, the 13x8 and c2 hidden profiles and items of art suitable for this space as 'litro di luce', has given the chalet the charm needed to create a comfortable environment of well-being.
