nativa is a 48 metre, 280 tonne mega motorsailer with a 63 metre mast, that was born in the venice shipyard arzanà navi. the hull and superstructures are in aluminium and the ballast is lead. the mast is in carbon fibre, continuous lamination without joints, unique of its kind. nativa is designed to reach up to 16 knots under sail: the running rigging is wholly power-assisted so the large sails can be easily handled by a skeleton crew. the yacht is moreover equipped with a large spade rudder, hydraulically controlled and with dual steering station, which achieves manoeuvrability comparable to that of a racing yacht. the vessel can accommodate ten guests plus eight crew members: the guest cabins, with modern and refined lines, and the owner’s suite, are accessible by way of a wide and spectacular spiral staircase and are situated underdeck. amidships on the main deck there is an ‘open space’ lounge with large windows that give a complete view of the sea: this design choice contrasts with the usual sailboat layout but has the aim of coupling the performance of a motoryacht with comfort. nativa also has a spacious flybridge with pilot house and living area. the clean lines of the hull and the interior decoration called for a special lighting, capable of adapting to the various features and functions of the spaces. so the choice of light fittings went hand in hand with that of the materials, furnishings and colours. the 13x8 was used in a versatile way to meet different lighting requirements: in the night area the light fitting was inserted between the seams of the leather ceilings and also used along the corridor as a courtesy light: the effect is one of simple vertical cuts which also inspired the design of the boiserie. the stairway is lit by 13 x 8 beams of light which highlight the verticality of the structure. the spingi was chosen to light the owner’s desk, an ideal solution from both the aesthetic and functional viewpoint.
