the historic triel mountain restaurant, in the canton grigioni, has been recently renovated, moving a little its original position to improve the circulation of skiers along the ski slopes and ski stations. the right side of the building stretches on with a panoramic terrace while the asymmetric roof, sloping on both sides, opens the building body towards the mountains and the valley; this effect is amplified by a facade entirely made of glass at the ground floor. in this way, the new structure embraces the surrounding landscape beauty and the bright light typical of high mountains, exploiting the optimal luminous effects also indoor. the surface of the building base, as well as the ground floor core, is made of concrete. another part made of red fir wood completes the ground floor. along the south-east and south-west facades, entirely made of glass, there are hardwood pillars inside. there is also a wooden-beamed ceiling. in the ground floor core area, the outer layer of the facade continues: here the glass is replaced by hardwood beams. the roof shape refers to the building drawing: the deepest point of the beams is located on the entrance line, on the vanishing of the central wall, and allows a clear spatial distinction between the dining and non-dining areas. in the basement, along the south-east facade, there are three private rooms and other extra spaces. the artificial lighting of the building is assigned to the lenticchia. the elliptic, rounded, delicate shape of this fitting balances the rigidity of interior lines and wood furniture in the restaurant area and in the rooms. in the first one, the suspension version has been used: it is in fact more suitable for accomodating spaces, while in the rooms the lenticchia plafone has been chosen: its more discrete position allows the sun light that seeps through the windows to illuminate the cold shade coloured walls, having no obstacles. thanks to an architecture that recalls the typical mountain ones, and also to the choice of plain materials, the new restaurant harmoniously integrates itself into the mountain landscape, in a non-invasive way.
