moncler grenoble
place:st.moritz, switzerland
project:küchel architects
lighting project:Viabizzuno
moncler has opened its first flagship store in the heart of st. moritz dedicated entirely to its grenoble label, with which it celebrates its dna linked to the mountains and to technical excellence. designed by küchel architects, this 300 square metre space is an ode to the brand's roots and tradition. the flagship design is inspired by mountain landscapes and is characterised by the use of natural materials, both in their raw state and adapted for functional purposes, such as seating and display systems. large wooden tree sculptures draw attention to the imposing double-height ceilings, recreating the magical atmosphere of a forest. a central stone walkway guides visitors into the boutique. creating the lighting design, therefore, called for a two-pronged approach: on the one hand respecting the atmosphere created by the interior design, and on the other exalting the characteristics of the high-performance technical garments, by guaranteeing the highest levels of lighting quality and energy efficiency, essential requirements for leed certification. the lighting was therefore developed at different levels, in order to respond to the different needs. the monumental shop entrance, which with its barrel vaulting is reminiscent of the entrance to a grotto, was illuminated externally by two linear arcoled profiles, one oriented upwards and one downwards, and internally by a ca 42x42 system, which accentuates and enhances the curve of the ceiling. upon entering, the space is divided into two wings. campana brembana in a custom-made version with a diameter of 1200 mm, larger size than the classic version, was installed on the double-height wooden mosaic-effect ceilings, the shape and size being reminiscent of the oculum of an ancient temple, an upward opening with a dramatic effect. c sistema and n55 binario with a shaper run along the perimeter, illuminating the rough stone bench, a reminder of the mountains surrounding the boutique. hand-forged iron trees sprout up here and there, with micromen spotlights grafted like buds into their branches to illuminate the display of perfumes and other accessories. a customised lighting solution has also been devised for the furniture, with traccia sistema, micromen and flexible linear led lighting that follows the curves of the shelves and the hanging systems like ski runs. for lighting the mirrors the 13x8 linear led recessed in the structure was chosen, so as not to be visible and to provide the desired amount of light. different lighting solutions were perfected for the shop windows, which are also scenically vaulted: arcoled was installed in the upper part, providing diffused lighting, while microtraccia with trentotto spotlights were installed on the walls to provide accent lighting to the niches embedded in the stone.
