doctor coffee, born from an idea of café saula, is a modern atmosphere coffee shop, in which tradition for good coffee tasting is maintained, maybe to go with some daily cookery specialties. ideas that gave birth to the project are coffee bars and shops' typical materials and elements, which here evolve and modernize through their new application (white marble, wood, black metal sheet). other main pillar of the project is spatiality, obtained and calibrated throughout the use of light and mirrors. the finishing is accurate, and material composition is the soul of the place: black metal sheet for the floor, solid bamboo wood covers walls/shelves, the bar counter is in white pais marble. the existing high beam ceiling over the counter area was preserved. the big mirror that helps in emphasizing the impression of wideness is the leading element of the place, it creates a play of reflections with café saula's logo and colors (placed in front on a light sign), and at the same time with the graphic board with the list of goods. the client's area is characterized by a lower white ceiling. on the wall, covered with bamboo wood, a sentence, taken from coffee world , is carved. in the middle of the place a monolithic white marble bar stands out, lit by peled, a suspension lamp designed by studio arola that's been developed and realized with Viabizzuno. peled: recessed or surface mounted lighting system IP20 rated for interior with modular structure. modules consist of a steel plate and multiple aluminium rods, mounted on the plate through a ball articulation with a 30° max rotation respect to the vertical axis. it is available in modules of 4 and 8 rods, 1200mm drop length. each single rod is wired for a 1W 3000K warm white led for accent light on the surface. it is supplied with control gear. the plate, in polished stainless steel or black or white painting finishings, is available for 4 and 8 rods modules. it is also possible to have 16 rods version combining two 8 rods modules. the rods can be supplied in black or white painted aluminium. each module can be combined by means of joints to create different patterns.
