the addition to the san biagio cemetery forms part of a pre-existing monumental complex. the aim of the project was to create a kind of wing for the present vast complex leading directly to the new part. a block of reinforced concrete and slabs of marble stand in relation to a diaphanous glass wall: between them, a space dominated by light and shade. the translucent steel and glass wing shelters visitors from the outside environment while leading them into a private space. the entire project is based on the confrontation of material and immaterial: on the one hand the cement monolith embedded in the ground; on the other glass: a piece cut into the blue of the sky, suspended, weightless.
