the light of day, the light of night: dawns, dusks, nights with a fullmoon and star-studded skies.
nature generously gives us extraordinary views of light, colours and atmospheres. light has always played an important role in my life…
the light gives me joy and energy, the dark frightens me. ever since
i was very little, i have loved the light and feared the dark. light changes my moods and contributes greatly toswings within me towards joy and sadness. the light of a storm terrifies me and attracts me, the light of a sunset moves me, the light of the moon makes me dream…as a child i learnt to play with the light, to love it and to use it.
today it is my fortune to design spaces for everyday living. and to modulate the light, use it for giving body to a thought, creating shadows, cuts, contrasts is one of the most fascinating things one can do in a house, room, office and even in a garden.
in my designs the light is an essential element: i have always thought that it has the magic power, if properly thought out and used, to make something unremarkable standout and look really beautiful.
it is often evident how little attention is paid to light.
on entering restaurants, offices, hotels, and inother places where people live, i wonder what the reason is for the unsuitable and unconsidered light that is sometimes excessive or too, weak, sometimes it is cold, sometimes it is a leveller, sometimes it even manages to make things ugly…
