the former american embassy in oslo, now known as Ambassaden, has been redeveloped as a multifunctional events, catering and cultural space, combining the building’s historical value with a contemporary, welcoming atmosphere. an international team of architecture and design studios – Atelier Oslo, Lundhagem and Paulsen&Nilsen – oversaw the renovation project, working to restore the historic building’s dignity and accessibility while preserving the intrinsic value of Eero Saarinen’s modernist design. the lighting was designed by Concept Design Oslo, which collaborated with Viabizzuno to design the lighting for the wine bar and gym. the first space, which is easily recognisable thanks to the mosaics adorning the walls, is lit by candela di vals.
its refined finish embellishes the environment without being overbearing, thanks to clean lines that allow the light fitting to blend in with the architecture. the gym’s lighting – for which comfort and performance are essential – is provided by mn sistema, which features latest-generation optical system with very low energy consumption. its louvres prevent glare, ensuring an extremely comfortable environment in terms of visibility and usability.
