established in 1796, the Accademia Carrara in bergamo is considered the museum of italian collections. entirely created through the gifts of enlightened patrons who, over time, sought to increase its heritage by making it accessible to the city and the community, the museum houses an extraordinary collection that spans the history of italian art from the gothic period to the 19th century. Viabizzuno was the museum’s lighting partner for the exhibition ‘Arte e natura. Pittura su pietra tra Cinque e Seicento’, curated by Patrizia Cavazzini in collaboration with Maria Luisa Pacelli. the exhibition design conceived by Mauro Piantelli from studio De8 Architetti is measured and discreet. stone is the focal point. veins, density and light reflections contribute to the construction of the work and guide its perception. light plays a central role in defining the exhibition space. inside the display cases, microtraccia with micromen spotlights allow for precise lighting that does not alter the perception of both material and colours, while also removing unexpected reflections on glass or glare effects that interfere with the observers’ vision. flexible positioning and maximum light quality are crucial in conveying the technical complexity of these works, making the dialogue between natural surface and pictorial intervention legible, and allowing for close and conscious viewing.
