Every two years, on the picturesque island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, 'Homo Faber' is held, the exhibition celebrating contemporary craftsmanship. The third edition, entitled 'Homo Faber 2024: The Journey of Life' and open to the public from 1 to 30 September 2024, was led by the artistic direction of Luca Guadagnino and Nicolò Rosmarini for Michelangelo Foundation. Set in the magnificent spaces of Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Homo Faber is an immersive experience that illustrates the essential role handmade objects play in our daily lives, among handcrafted items from all over the world, exceptional scenographies and live artisan demonstrations. The lighting project, curated by Eleonora Grigoletto and Massimiliano Baldieri, contributed to the creation of an exciting visiting path while enhancing the extraordinary objects on display: the preciousness of materials, colours, textures, patterns, details and nuances was perfectly conveyed to the visitor thanks to the micromen spotlights with custom finishes integrated into the showcases. The artisans' and artists' workstations were illuminated with floor solutions such as roy lettura, fiore and traccia terra, thus ensuring a very high quality of light that does not damage the fine and sometimes fragile materials in any way. The entrance to the exhibition is illuminated with n55 binario spotlights, while in the room dedicated to dreams p1 spotlights placed on the ground illuminate the water mirror, creating a suspended and mystical atmosphere.

'My job has always been to find a way to tell a story within the coordinates that I'm given. This amazing and very streamlined and universal concept of the Journey of Life really led us to understand how to envelope the audience through the amazing architecture of the Fondazione Cini so that the craft on display was not going to be overwhelmed but at the same time the place itself was given a lot of relevance. It has been a tremendous experience of reflection on many of the great inspirations that have led our ideas, from Carlo Scarpa to the memory and history of Venice as a city of art.'
