House M, a private residence, is located in the eastern part of beijing and is surrounded by lush vegetation and verdant trees.
family memories, childhood experiences and reminiscences of a past life form the emotional basis of this architectural space, which was designed by Atelier About Architecture.
enclosed by high walls, the building receives natural light from five courtyards of different sizes, creating a visual connection between the interior spaces.
the formal simplicity of the architecture is complemented by the lighting design, which minimises the number of light fittings to leave space for the building’s volumes and lines and to respect the interaction with natural light.
