Moncler Grenoble – the alpine‑specialist line of the Moncler brand – has opened a flagship store in aspen, colorado, its first in the united states of america and its second worldwide, following the debut opening in st. moritz.
the project was entrusted to Küchel Architects, a studio founded by Arnd Küchel, who had already overseen the realisation of the swiss space. crossing the threshold, the client finds himself immersed in a strongly evocative environment: the interior celebrates the rocky mountains with furnishing components made of natural materials such as rock and wood. the impression is of entering a cave, in the centre of which a sculptural tree becomes the reference element for the entire composition of the space. these strongly characterising design elements provide a connection with the first Moncler Grenoble flagship in st. moritz, which was also conceived as a celebration of the mountains and their nature.
the design goes beyond the aesthetic value, the aim in fact being to obtain LEED certification for the boutique, thus demonstrating a concrete commitment to energy efficiency.
Viabizzuno’s involvement in the lighting design continues the collaboration already begun with the store in st. moritz. the large central wooden mosaic-effect ceiling features campana brembana, which, like an oculum, theatrically opens the space upwards. along the perimeter runs 094 sistema curvo with n55 sistema orientabile. in the niches stand hand-forged iron trees, into the branches of which micromen spotlights have been inserted to illuminate the display of accessories. as with the first swiss flagship, a customised lighting solution for the furniture was also developed for the aspen flagship with traccia sistema, micromen and flexible led linear systems that follow the curves of the shelves and hanging systems.
