After curating the lighting of the interior and park of Villa Guastavillani, the historical home of Bologna Business School, Viabizzuno – as supporting partner of the school – realised the lighting design of the new campus, consisting of three buildings constructed according to the highest standards of sustainability. The architectural project, which arises from the redevelopment of existing buildings, was developed by Mario Cucinella Architects to blend in with the natural setting of the Bolognese hills and reflects the innovative approach of BBS, recently named 'highest riser' in the Financial Times' latest annual ranking of European business schools, combining historical roots with a forward-looking orientation, in a collaborative and interdisciplinary context. The modular spaces of the new campus, designed to respond to contemporary learning modalities and encourage interaction between people, are illuminated with flexible, high-performance and sustainable solutions. In the large entrance hall with its glass ceiling, A1 tracks have been installed on the beams, providing diffuse lighting to the entire space. The emblematic circular staircase is illuminated with Lensoptica applied to N55 Sospensione, the Viabizzuno system that guarantees the highest quality of light, sustainability and customisation. On the slatted ceiling of the lecture rooms N55 spotlights with technical optics and MN Sistema modules have been installed, the ideal Viabizzuno solution for flexible study and work environments where precise control of visual comfort and glare effects is required, as well as very high lighting performance with minimal energy consumption. The experience sought by BBS extends to the outdoors, where the flowerbeds are illuminated by Tsukimiso and Cubo Medium. The long staircase that physically and metaphorically unites the historic and new parts of the school is lit by Nett Uno spotlights, while many Lucciola of various heights are scattered in the surrounding park.

'We live in an era of rapid change, where it is essential to learn to live with uncertainty, to envision the future we want to shape, and to make things happen, with a renewed sense of responsibility for the consequences of our actions and decisions. Bologna Business School was founded to offer learning opportunities consistent with these dynamics through an interdisciplinary and human centric approach. At Bologna Business School, we believe in learning together, starting from problems to develop knowledge with experience at the core.'
”nett uno
nett uno was designed to illuminate one of the most representative monuments of the city of Bologna: Giambologna's Fontana del Nettuno, in the square of the same name adjacent to Piazza Maggiore, and immediately became part of the permanent Viabizzuno collection. Designed by Marionanni for Viabizzuno, nett uno is an indoor and outdoor IP65 rated light fitting made of oxidised and powder-coated aluminium, available in wall and floor versions, in antique brown, night black, Scurodivals, silver grey and ottone AP-S on request finishes, with diameters 40, 80 and 100mm.
mn sistema
mn sistema is the Viabizzuno lighting solution that meets the increasingly dynamic working environment, which needs office flexibility and personalisation. its application is ideal in all those spaces where a precise control of visual comfort and glare is required.
The two beam widths guarantee excellent lighting levels depending on the installation pitch and ceiling height.
The 44° beam is suitable higher ceilings and for achieving top marks on leed and well certifications.
The 70° beam is recommended for low ceilings, as it allows excellent uniformity of illuminance.
The highest quality of light is therefore supported by high performance in terms of energy saving and environmental sustainability, thanks to the very low consumption and recyclability of the materials.
The minimal style, the wide range of sizes, finishes and types of application make it possible to design infinite configurations, making mn sistema a highly flexible solution that can integrate naturally into any type of work environment.
mn sistema – designed by marionanni for Viabizzuno – is available in ceiling, recessed, fully concealed, for Viabizzuno A1 and VbB tracks and traccia sistema versions.
The solution is completed by the sound-absorbing sistema ilsilenzio.
It has on-off, dali or casambi switching, the latter manageable from mobile devices through Viascenario app, Viabizzuno’s wireless lighting control system.
