Located near the xixi national wetland park in Hangzhou, Shy Table is a restaurant whose name contains the owner’s characteristics of shyness and tranquillity.
The architectural design, by Studio8 Architects, started from this premise to create a cosy and fascinating space. Based on the existing grid of columns, new architectural elements were inserted to animate the space, which is divided in some areas by evocative full-height drapes. Light is one of the strengths of Shy Table, where the charming atmosphere plays a key role in a unique dining experience.
Above the most intimate tables, the n55 sospensione with decorative glass nh02, designed by the renowned chinese studio Neri&Hu, gathers diners around its warm light. Short sections of microtraccia with micromen spotlight and n22 draw divisions of light between one area of the room and another. Going to the lower ground floor, where the bar is located, the n55 soffitto with lensoptica delicately illuminates the space, barely caressing the refined furnishings and precious artworksworks. At the side of the bar, at a large table dedicated to conviviality, spingi qua hides in the thickness of the top thanks to the pressure system and offers its light to guests only when needed. The garden recalls the forms of the mediterranean citrus grove, immersed in a Romantic, dreamy atmosphere. Amidst lush local cedar trees, catenaria di luce serpentine run to create lively paths of light between the tables.
