in the historic centre of rapallo, the ancient poor clare monastery, whose religious order was dissolved in 1912, has been given a new lease of life. after decades of various uses and subsequent abandonment, the building has reopened as the teatro auditorium delle clarisse, a public space dedicated to concerts, shows, and cultural events.
architect Enrico Pinna was entrusted with the architectural design, preserving the original charm of the complex while designing an evocative interior with new uses in mind.
the entire interior space is characterised by coppibartali. in the wall-mounted version, it adorns the large side pillars and marks the passageways of the hall. meanwhile, the suspension version descends from the high ceilings, recalling the ancient chandeliers typically found in sacred structures. the result is soft lighting that embellishes the room while creating a suspended atmosphere that calls for contemplation and serves as a reminder of the past.
