among the characteristic streets of utrecht, surrounded by historic buildings and canals, stands one structure that once was five separate buildings, that now – once you enter – form a single large complex: the Channable Campus.
Channable, a multi-channel e-commerce platform operating worldwide, has relocated its headquarters here. the architectural and restoration project was entrusted to the bkpunt studio, which based its approach on highlighting the history of the complex. a new structure runs through all the buildings, and steel gateways have been installed where these new paths meet the original walls.
the lighting design is the product of close collaboration between the client, the architecture firm bkpunt, the interior architect Robert van Oosterom and the lighting designer Frans van Hooijdonk. the Viabizzuno light fittings selected for the Channable Campus reflect and complement the architectural and material features of the spaces.
for the workstation areas, the n55 with lensoptica system was chosen, which is capable of providing the highest quality of light while avoiding glare and visual fatigue. in areas where the historic features of the building are more visible, light fittings were installed that blend into the environment thanks to their appearance.
Peter Zumthor’s campanula light fitting marks the passageway and interacts with the brick walls, while David Chipperfield’s royal parete light fitting provides elegant, diffused lighting.
