for the M ESSENTIAL fashion brand, the design stems from an exploration of the tensions and affinities between traditional oriental artistic practices and contemporary life in china. embracing the similarities and contradictions between tradition and modernity, the brand seeks a return to the essence of design. the tianjin boutique, located inside the luxury shopping centre the mixc, translates these ideals into an architectural and interior design language. the space is organised into areas defined by furnishings and colours that evoke elements of nature. the lighting design confirms the long-standing collaboration between M ESSENTIAL, architecture firm chaos programme, and Viabizzuno. in the wide central corridor, n55 parete con braccio in a special finish with decorative glass kk01, designed by master architect Kengo Kuma, marks the passage. meanwhile, n55 h20 adorns the ceiling with its decorative glass, providing diffused lighting without glare that reflects off the surface above.
