Since its foundation in 1969 UniFor has been synonymous with contemporary design, customised solutions and quality. It’s not just a company, but rather, a laboratory of thought that translates the desires of architects, clients and designers. Through its furniture UniFor brings life to museums, libraries, banks, corporations and institutions all over the world. The decision to leave its long-established showroom in Corso Matteotti in Milan and move to new premises in Viale Pasubio delivers a strong statement of confirmation and renewal of the company’s vocation for the culture of design, placing it in a more advanced and strategic hub of urban redevelopment. A showroom, an exhibition space, a laboratory of know-how, placed in the hands of the studio Herzog & De Meuron – which was awarded the Pritzker prize in 2001 – inside one of the most significant architectural projects created by them for the capital of design. The complex, which has been home to the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli since 2016, had already seen UniFor’s intervention for the furnishings and partition systems of the three upper floors, also designed by the Swiss studio.
From shop window to shop window, today the rhythmic and linear layout, the modular repetition of triangular columns, and transparency are the compositional elements that most define and identify the building and the space of UniFor.
The showroom is defined by flexibility based on a system specially designed and developed by UniFor together with Herzog & De Meuron: a system of extrusion profiles and panels that can be configured in many ways. There are no separate rooms, merely spaces that can be reorganised into smaller showrooms, areas for large public events or more intimate meeting rooms. Reflective metal, vibrant colours, the natural warmth of wood and the solidity of stone create different, yet consistent atmospheres, the ideal backdrop for the presentation of UniFor products.
The concept of maximum flexibility of the space is also applied to the lighting: A1 con luce lineare integrates perfectly into the texture of the ceiling panels. This high-performance track guarantees maximum light quality while minimising energy consumption, an essential property for a project that is located in a district having a strong focus on sustainability. Linear led lights that provide diffused lighting are fitted to the track, together with n55 con interfaccia orientabile spotlights, which allow a more concentrated and direct illumination of the display, ensuring maximum rendering of the colour of the elements and the nature of their material.

Designed by Marionanni, the A1 track is part of one of the most iconic product families of the Viabizzuno collection: A sistema.
